“Dozens of people will be whipping out their scythes and ripping off their shirts for a spot of “Poldarking” in Cambridgeshire this weekend.” says this BBC article
They are referring to the Eastern Counties Scythe Festivalat Wimpole, that happened this weekend. Phil couldn’t make it this year but here is a great picture of him mowing at the festival last year.
Wimpole is the only scythe festival in the UK that has competitions for mowing an eighth or a quarter of an acre, in addition to the more standard 5x5m and 10x10m races. This is a true test of a scythers skills – can he /she maintain skill, speed and quality over a longer mow? We await the results with interest.
