What better way to spend a cold January day then laying plans for Summer?
….and it looks like it will be a busy one!
Here is how it looks so far, I expect there will be more to come. There will be hay making to fit in somewhere too!
Courses and Workshops
We have added more dates for our popular Introductory Scythe Courses and Peening Workshops.
We have also confirmed dates for this years “Mowing with Ease” workshop, aimed at those mowers with some experience who would like to improve their techniques.

Festivals, Fairs and Fun
There is a whole lot of festivals and fairs to look forward to. We start off the year at the Seedy Saturday event in Carmarthen on February 24th.
We will be offering scything demonstrations at the National Woollen Museum on 7th April. Just a short hop down the road for us, look out for scythes packed on bikes as we cycle down for the day.
On 7th July, Scythe Cymru will have a stand at the Shropshire Hills Hay Meadow festival 2018, organised by Shropshire Hills AONB
No summer of scything would be complete without the West Country Scythe Festival. Phil will be going down to co-teach the Improvers Scythe Course on 8th and 9th June, then staying on to enjoy the festival on 10th June
Come and Visit us or Volunteer
We will be having an Open Day at Dyfed Permaculture Farm Trust on 30th June. The meadows will be in full bloom and it will be a great opportunity to visit and chat about what we do. And have a stroll in the hayfields along a scythed labyrinth.
Lastly, did you know that we take volunteers? You can join us for our regular Dyfed Permcaulture Farm Trust workdays; or come and stay and volunteer for a longer period of time. We provide food, basic accommodation and lots of learning opportunities in exchange for a helping hand with work on the farm. If you are interested and would like to know more, please get in touch.
