This is Phil’s favorite blade.
A Luxor blade hardly leaves his snath for most of the grass mowing season.
We favor the 85cm or 90cm length for the majority of our hay mowing, especially in the light grasses and forbes of our top hay meadow.
We switch to a 75cm blade later in the season when the weight, toughness or lay of the grass makes mowing with long blades harder work.
Phil uses the 75cm Luxor for most garden work (lawns, tracks, overgrown edges) and a 50cm Luxor for paths and trimming work. The shorter versions of this blade can be found here.

This is a fine blade for mowing meadows, soft weeds, lawns and garden work.
Slightly heavier then the Profisense Meadow blade, it is more forgiving of coarser mowing.
The body of the blade is fairly flat, which some mowers prefer, so it needs a little more care with initial set up to get it mowing well. Once it is set up it mows like a dream and is a useful step up from the Profisense blade.
If used with care the 75cm blade (and shorter lengths) are capable of mowing young brambles (>1 year old) and bracken.
If you have large areas to tackle, or the brambles are more mature, one of these tougher blades might suit you better.
The 75cm blade is a good all round meadow / grass blade.
The 85cm and 90cm lengths are useful for more experienced scythers mowing large areas, especially lawns and low nutrient meadows composed of lighter grasses and forbes.
Longer blades allow you to cut more with each pass of the blade but require greater technical skill from the mower, both when scything and in set up and peening / sharpening.
When choosing between the longer lengths, consider your level of experience and the area you have to mow. The longer the blade is, the more specialized it becomes in use.
